We’ve all got goals in our lives, but most people will never reach those goals, why is that? and what can be done about it.

What most people think of as their goals are not even goals, they are dreams and wishes. So how do we set goals that will bring us forward in life, goals that makes us jump out of bed every morning.

You should take a look at these five points when setting a goal that you really want to achive:

  1. A goal has to be specific
  2. Your goal has to be big and compelling
  3. They have to be written down
  4. You have to review your goal every single day/week/month
  5. Your goal has to aligned with your highest values

The more clear you can be about what you want the greater the chances are that you will get it. When you are specific you can chart out a path to your goal. If it is not specific, it is a dream and not a goal.

It has to be big and compelling, this will motivate you and make you tap dance out of bed every morning. Since your goal is specific and you can chart out a step by step path, even the biggest goals will not daunt you.

This is important! write it down; Writing it down will force you to be specific about what you want to achieve, and try to break your goal down into smaller chunks. This will give you momentum, when you feel that you can reach a new milestone on the way to your goal allmost every day.

If your goal is not aligned with your highest values and interests, you will soon lose motivation and stray from the path.
